The Blue Mountains are blue...I HATE SPIDERS!

When I first heard of the Blue Mountains, I seriously questioned whether Australians were also colour-blind. Mountains, which are usually covered in trees, which are usually GREEN....but nope! The haze as well as the colour of gum trees give the Blue Mountains a BLUE colour!
This first trip was to go up and celebrate Yun-Yun's (Jackson's grandmother) 90th birthday! In addition, it was a family reunion of Yun's family and a huge family event! It was really wonderful to meet the other side of Jackson's family and they were all really friendly. Within 4 hours, I had an additional 50 relatives in Australia - crazy! We went up with Jackson's parents who came into town for the celebrations. The second day we were up there, a terrible rain came over, which put a heavy mist and fog over the mountains and blocked any opportunity for a view. We did spend the second day with Jackson's cousin's Jacinta's 21st birthday! We took the opportunity to take more pictures with Yun and spend some more time with more family. I didn't get to see the big tourist spots of the three sisters, waterfalls, or other great things in the Mountains, but I'm sure this will not be my last trip up there.
The other momentous time in this weekend was my first
experience with a huntsman spider. Granted, that is not my picture I took, but it was just as big...I saw my first huntsman on the window of our hotel and it was HUGE. They are not skinny little spiders. Jackson was trying to scare the crap out of me and tell me that they would come through the vents. After succeeding in scaring me enough for me to get a good night's sleep, he told me that these guys are insect eaters, not poisonous and don't eat humans. It still didn't make me feel any better...this guy was still the HUGEST spider I had ever seen.

I think I should let you know that I'm in the wrong country for this kind of arachnophobia - Australia has the most poisonous spiders in the world...I wouldn't be surprised if they have the most kinds of spiders either.
I HATE SPIDERS.
